About the Creature Painter

Bethany Kennedy is an artist who enjoys capturing animals in her paintings. Whether it is wildlife or domestic animals, God's creatures are what inspires her to paint. She also enjoys painting scenery, especially around her beautiful island home on St. Croix.

Kennedy moved to St. Croix in 2010, and started painting plein air painting in the spring of 2011. The gorgeous scenery on the island of St. Croix rarely fails to inspire a painting. She has found that she has especially enjoyed painting the beautiful beaches. The Caribbean is home to her as the artist spent the majority of her childhood in Puerto Rico as the daughter of missionary parents.

Kennedy studied at Pensacola Christian College, in Florida, where she completed her master's degree in commercial art. She has also received bachelor's degrees in commercial art and graphic design.

Bethany Kennedy enjoyed painting animals since her childhood.

Animals are a part of the world around us, and many people have a special fondness for these creatures. I happen to be one of those people. My name is Bethany Kennedy, and my favorite thing to paint is animals.

It seems like I loved animals since I was born. As a child, I played with toy animals instead of dolls. I always loved reading books about animals and watching nature shows. While traveling with my family, I was able to see many animals in zoos, as well as in the wild. As an adult I still enjoy owning pets, visiting zoos, and observing animals in the wild.

When I was in first grade, I remember asking my mom if she could teach me how to draw a dog. As I grew older, my interest in drawing animals grew. I became aware of professional wildlife art, and artists like Carl Brenders became my heroes. I enjoy painting many different things, but my favorite subjects will always be the creatures we share our world with. As an artist, I enjoy sharing my love for this special part of creation with other people.
